Learn * Read * Connect
the FZSD One Read
This school year, we are thrilled to be sponsoring our first-ever One Read initiative!
South High is partnering with the other FZ high schools, Liberty High School in the Wentzville School District, and the St. Charles City-County Library to make this program possible. Using the book The Radium Girls by Kate Moore, we seek to:
-
Connect our school and greater communities through a shared reading experience
-
Offer a chance for multiple subject areas to connect learning to a common book
-
Promote/foster literacy, particularly the reading of nonfiction
-
Connect the experiences of the dial-painters to that of local residents impacted by the dumping of nuclear waste in North St. Louis and Weldon Spring
-
Connect our school community to people and resources at/through the public library
It's More than Just a Book ...
Week-by-Week One Read Resources
You can choose to read or listen to the digital book through FZ's Sora app or the public library's Hoopla app (you'll need your public library card).
No time to read some of the chapters? No problem. You can listen to the summaries we've recorded for each chapter.
We've also compiled tons of resources to complement the book and built a timeline to pace you. These resources will be updated as we go. Check the teacher resources below:
